Why Am I Always So Hungry?
Have you always got food on your mind?
I was ALWAYS so hungry, for instance, I could eat a plateful of chili at anytime of the day...even the very moment I woke up! It was true, the first thing I thought of as soon as I woke up was food! I could also eat a huge meal with a huge dessert and 30 minutes later I could eat it all again!
Now, this had to stop. I was putting on weight at an alarming rate and was becoming obsessed by food, but the more I resisted the urge to stuff myself, the more I yearned for food. it was a vicious circle.
After months of this I took a bit of advice that worked. I would simply drink more water, in fact 8 glasses a day. The moment I became ravenous I just poured myself a glass of water and drank it, if the urge for food was still there I drank another glass and waited 5 minutes. The urge then went and I got on with things. Not only did I lose weight, but I trained myself to stop snacking and the cravings went altogether.
This won't work for all people though, my brother tried this and it didn't make any difference, his food cravings were still there. So, I've researched the topic and put what I think could be a reason why some people are hungry all of the time. It's not in great detail, but the main factors are there (the in's and out's would have bored you to tears!)

Stop Eating Your Heart Out
Some Reasons Why You Are Always Hungry
Overeating or Binge Eating is a Serious Disorder - Find a Solution Here
1 - Are you eating the wrong food? Many people rely on quick meals, sandwiches and snacks thinking they will fill the gap. Well, they may satisfy you for around 30 minutes, but the glucose in these foods causes a spike in sugar level, and then disappears pretty quickly. Your brain then says "hey...I'm hungry again, how about another blast?" Of course, when you do this and you obey your brain, you eat again and slowly put on weight too.
2 - Are you sure you're not mistaking hunger for thirst? People may laugh at this suggestion, but we become dehydrated without realizing it. Drinking liquid such as pop, soda, alcohol, fruit juice coffee, tea etc is not enough to keep us hydrated and we need at least 8 average glasses of water a day to make our body function at its best. Water also cleanses our bodies and gets rid of unwanted toxins as well as flushing out important internal organs.
3 - How are you emotionally? Perhaps you have a lot on your mind at the moment. Stress, even your sub-conscience can trigger a want for a bit of pleasure, and let's be honest, eating is pleasurable! Whether you worrying about love, hate, health, exams, dieting or anything likely to take you out of your comfort zone, the pleasure of eating may well sub-consciously take your mind off your problems for a short while.
4 - You may have a Hormonal Imbalance. If your blood sugar keeps dropping you will have hunger pangs wanting to replenish your blood sugar levels. If your hormonal balance is out you may also feel tired all of the time also.
5 - Are you on a diet? This might sound obvious, but when we restrict what we can eat we kind of get obsessive about it. If we can't eat, we then start to yearn for food. When we're on a diet, we are always thinking of the next meal, the next time we can refuel and the next time we will be satisfied.
6 - Do you watch too much TV? Strange one this, but the suggestion of food is all over the Television. Cookery Programs seem to be on every channel. Then you have a myriad of advertisements showing you all types of delicious food and snacks. In the back of your brain, something is saying "hey...food...mmmm, fooood!" Just like Homer Simpson!
7 - Are you leaving too much time between meals? Its been proven that 'little and often' works where you take a light meal every 2 or 3 hours throughout the day. Notice the word 'light' here...it's important. You don't want to eat a huge steak every 120 minutes! If you leave it too long between meals you are bound to be hungry.
8 - Are you getting enough trace nutrients? We all need our trace nutrients such as chromium, manganese, cobalt and tons of others. Some people can eat like a horse and always be hungry; this may be because their food choice is poor and does not include the important nutrients they need. Feeling full AND hungry causes us to overeat and become obese very quickly. Your body is telling you that some important nutrients are missing.
9 - Is your digestive system working well? If your digestive system has an imbalance, some important nutrients might be going straight through and not being absorbed by the body. Without certain nutrients you brain will be getting the message that your hungry.
10 - Parasites? Yuk! But they do exist and eat off the nutrients we should be benefiting from. There are hundreds of these parasites and they may be present in your body. They can affect any part of the body and can have an influence over anything from constipation to teeth-grinding!
11 - Are you bored? This is one of the big reasons why hunger strikes. You have nothing to do! You're feeling a bit lazy and you just want to chill out all day. Eating is very easy and fits the bill well. Boredom can play havoc with your waistline!
Are You Addicted to Food? - Addiction to Food is a Very Complicated Matter
It can be looked upon as just being greedy, or of having no self control, but it goes much deeper than that. I'm not an expert, but I can see this is a real and definite problem that so many people suffer with. I myself think about food all the time.
There are lots of products to help you stop craving for food and even binging. It is quite a serious condition that some people just don't understand. Maybe it's emotional eating, a habit you want to get out of or just have a voracious appetite that won't let you rest...or something even deeper.
Always being hungry is a real miserable affair for sufferers and should not be looked on as greed. Some of the products below may be able to help in some way to curb this feeding state of mind.
So How Can I Become Less Hungry?
Simple Solutions to Help You Curb Hunger Cravings
Make sure you are eating enough nutrients and the body is absorbing them well. If you are excessively hungry all of the time, a trip to the doctors may be in order to just check you blood sugar levels are not the cause.
If your just hungry most of the time, try to change your eating habits. Eat fruit for snacks instead of sugary treats. Eat more meals, but smaller portions throughout the day.
If you feel hungry at certain parts of the day, keep a healthy snack within easy reach. A big orange or big apple...something to really get your teeth into and enjoy.
Get yourself active; build up your metabolic rate so that if you are hungry all the time, you can work off the excess calories by exercise. If you stay inactive and eat between meal times, the pounds will pile on.
If you need help with cravings or need your appetite reigned in, try a supplement such as a tablet or pill. Some of these are made to suppress your appetite and kill your cravings. And if you take regular exercise they will boost your metabolism and give you more energy AND help burn off excess fat! Note: Be prepared to work with these supplements, they won't work if you don't work out and eat healthily. They are mostly useless, but the placebo effect can help mentally.
When you ask yourself "why am I always hungry", try to go through the list above and see if you can eliminate any of them.
The Importance of Drinking Water - Drinking water can help to reduce hunger and sometimes, hunger can be confused with just being thirsty!
